Questions about a membership in the SmartKidz Media Library

What is the SmartKidz Media Library all about?

The SmartKidz Media Library for Homeschoolers is a subscription-based website. There are no advertisements, pop-up ads, or links to other websites. Further, students using the website are never asked to give personal information—this guarantees that your family’s confidential information is safe and protected. You can feel confident that all family members can learn and explore, on their own (depending on age and ability), in a safe and secure online educational environment.

As a member, you will create a protected passcode that gives you access to your own Family Media Library. Your Family Media Library is a home reference library that will build the foundation for a lifelong journey of learning for the entire family—a journey that is not only educational—but fun and entertaining! While much of the content in the library features educational media for kids, the content can be enjoyed by all family members no matter what their age.

What do I get with a membership?

The SmartKidz Media Library features a membership plan where you and your family have unlimited access to over 1,000 educational videos, flash-animated eBooks, fine arts music, interactive study guides…and more.

As a member, here’s the type of the digital media you can access at any time and on any device:

  • Educational videos that provide viewing entertainment for hours of learning
  • Flash-animated eBooks that are age appropriate and divided into reading levels to insure that any child can achieve reading success
  • Interactive Study Guides that give instant answers to the questions students have in the areas of math, science, English grammar, and social studies.
  • Fine Arts music and hundreds of favorite kids songs—songs that will teach valuable living skills while keeping young ones singing for hours on end

Currently, we offer 3 payment plans that give members unlimited access the SmartKidz Media Library:

  • Monthly Membership    $10.00
  • 1 Year Membership      $99.00

How can I be sure that the video content is appropriate for my family?

We want to make sure that when you become a member that you are fully satisfied with the content of the SmartKidz Media Library. Here's what you can do to appraise whether the SmartKidz Media Library is right for your family:

Step #1: Examine the digital media content in the SmartKidz Media Library

As you navigate through the SmartKidz Media Library Website, there are 2 buttons that appear throughout the website:

  • View Media Catalog button
  • Sign-Up button

If you want to glimpse through the hundreds of titles found in the SmartKidz Media Library catalog, you can click on the View Media Catalog button. Once you are satisfied with the selections and quality of the media, you can then sign-up to become a member by clicking on the Sign Up button.

 

Step #2: Sign up for the 14 day Free Trial Offer

You can sign up for our 14 day Free Trial offer and instantly watch hundreds of educational videos or read hundreds of eBooks over the Internet on your devices. If you enjoy your free trial, do nothing and at the end of the trial your membership will automatically continue for as long as you choose to remain a member. If at the end of the free trial you decide that the media content is not what you expected, then you may cancel your trial membership—no questions asked. Your complete satisfaction is guaranteed!

Are there any restrictions on how many videos I can watch or how

Absolutely not! You can watch as many videos as you want—and more than just that—whenever you want and wherever you want! We don’t limit your viewing interests or routines.

What are some additional perks to being a member?

Besides the main benefits of being able to view educational media titles on a variety of devices, anytime and any where, you’ll be able to view all the content in your Family Media Library free of distracting advertisements!

Many websites have links and advertisements that can steer students away from their learning and take them to areas of the Internet that may not be safe or appropriate. Since your Family Media Library has no advertisements, no pop-up ads, and no links to other sites, you can rest easy that your family members will be learning and exploring in a safe and secure environment.

Questions about signing up for a membership

How do I sign up for a membership?

It’s easy to sign up for a membership! Follow these 4 steps:

Step#1: Create an Account

Once you click on the Sign Up button on the SmartKidz Media Library website, a Membership Account form will appear on your screen. Simply fill in the following information:

  • Your email address,
  • User name*
  • A password
  • Retype password:
  • Create Account (button)


 Step #2: Choose a membership option

  • Free 14 day Free Trial
  • Monthly Membership    $10.00
  • 1 Year Membership       $99.00

Step #3: Register a Credit Card

  • Credit Card Type
  • Credit Card Number
  • Credit Card Verification Code
  • Credit Card Expiration Date
  • Account Holder’s Name

Note: Your credit card will not be charged during the free trial period. However, we need valid credit card information to establish your account

Step #4: Submit the information.

Click on the "Submit" button, and you’ll immediately be transferred to your Family Media Library page. Here, you can begin viewing videos, reading interactive eBooks, listen to music, and enjoy other media found in your library.

How does the Free Trial offer work?

If you sign up for our 14 day Free Trial offer, you'll be able to instantly watch hundreds of educational videos or read hundreds of eBooks over the Internet on your devices. If you enjoy your free trial, do nothing and at the end of the trial your membership will automatically continue for as long as you choose to remain a member. You can easily cancel anytime, online, 24 hours a day. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees. Just sign up to get started!

Why do I need to register a credit card if I take advantage of the Free Trial Offer?

If you sign up for the 14 day Free Trial offer, you will need to establish your account in advance by registering your credit card. We will reserve the first month membership fee of $10 upon sign-up. This amount will NOT be charged to your card should you decide to cancel your membership prior to the end of your 14 day Free Trial. If you don't cancel your membership during the trial period, you will be billed $10 for each month that you continue your membership. Remember, if you are not fully satisfied, you can cancel at any time to discontinue your membership and monthly billing. No matter what, we want your family to enjoy the 14 day Free Trial.

How do I log-in to my Family Media Library once I become a member?

After you set up your Membership Account, you will then be sent, via email, a confirmation of your username, password and a URL that you can bookmark on your device. When you click on this URL, you will be instantly linked to your log-in page to the Family Media Library. You can log-in by entering the following information:

    Reset Password

    If you forgot or lost your password, don’t worry. We’ll send you a link so you can change it (For security reasons we can’t send you your current password). Email address: Submit (button)

Questions about billing

How does the membership billing work?

  • If you sign up for a membership on the $10 monthly plan, you will be billed on the same day you sign up and that will continue on the same day every billing period until you cancel your membership.
  • If you sign up for a membership on the $99 annual plan, you will be billed on the same day you sign up and that will continue annually on the same day every year until you cancel your membership.
  • If you sign up for our 14 day Free Trial offer, if you choose to remain a member after the 14 are up, you will be billed as soon as the trial ends. Your membership will be billed on the same day every billing period.

How will charges appear on my credit card account?

Charges for your SmartKidz Media Library subscription will appear on your credit card statement as "SmartKidz".

Does billing automatically recur every month?

Yes. If you are on the $10 monthly plan, our billing recurs every month and is automatic. If you are on the $99 annual plan, our billing recurs every year on your anniversary and is automatic. You can cancel your SmartKidz subscription at anytime with no penalty, although we don’t provide refunds for partial months.

What happens if my credit card billing fails?

If there is an issue with your current form of payment and your billing fails, your account will automatically be unsubscribed. To renew your subscription, simply update your payment information and you’ll be back on track. None of your profile or account information will be lost or changed—everything will be the same as when you left it.

Will my membership automatically renew?

Yes. Whether you are on the recurring $10 monthly payment plan or the recurring $99 yearly payment plan, your membership automatically renews each billing period. You can cancel at any time to stop it from being renewed by clicking on the Cancel Membership link on your My Account page.

How do I cancel my membership?

If you need to cancel your membership, click the Cancel Membership link on your My Account page. If you decide later you want to reactivate your subscription, you can log-in to your My Account page and restore access to all the media content in your Family Media Library.

Is my financial information secure?

Yes. Membership login, payment, and signup forms are served over SSL to ensure the security of your personal information. When you add a payment profile, you’ll see a pop-up appear with an HTTPS secure address.

What is your Privacy Policy?

Questions about watching the digital media content

How do I access the content in my Family Media Library?

When you set up your account, you will be sent via email a URL that you can bookmark on your computer or other devices. You can access your Family Media Library at any time by clicking on the bookmark and entering your user name and passcode. This will unlock your Family Media Library where hundreds of digital media collections are stored. Once opened, you can then click on any catalog cover to begin viewing the media on your device.

The digital media in your Family Media Library can be viewed on any computer or mobile device that has access to the Internet. For the best experience, you should have a broadband connection to the Internet, such as DSL, cable, or satellite.

The flash-animated Mighty eBooks can also be viewed on any computer or mobile device that has access to the Internet and is capable of running Flash version 10.2 or higher.

For iPad and iPhone users, we are creating a free app that will allow you to view the flash-animated Mighty eBooks even though the iPad and iPhone are not compatible with Adobe Flash. For more information about viewing the flash-animated Mighty eBooks from these devices, please read the FAQ about "devices" below.

Where is the digital media content in my Family Media Library stored?

When you sign up, you will be asked to create an account page by giving your user name and a passcode. You will also be given a personalized Family Media Library page on the SmartKidz Cloud where all your media collections will be stored.

How is a collection delivered to my device?

When you click on a collection in your Family Media Library, you can then just sit back and enjoy the digital media content that will be delivered to you through our cutting-edge streaming technology. Our digital media content will be streamed to your computer, TV or portable devices—any where and at any time.

Why do you "stream” your digital media rather than download it to my device?

"Downloading" digital media to a device is outdated technology. Downloading high definition or broadcast quality videos sometimes takes hours to complete before you are able to begin watching the media.

Our streaming technology delivers digital media content to any device instantly. Streaming starts the instant you click on the “play” button. Our technology features automatic bandwidth detection and variable bitrate adjustments so that even if you are in a remote location, the streaming technology delivers digital media continuously with zero buffering.

How fast does my Internet need to be to stream the content in my

The minimum required connection speed is 500kbps (0.5Mbps), but we recommended a minimum speed of at least 1000kbps (1.0Mbps). You will want a faster connection for improved video quality.

While streaming works with many different levels of broadband, the speed and bandwidth of your broadband Internet connection may impact your viewing experience.

What devices can I use to stream the media collections in my Library?

With our breakthrough streaming technology, our digital media can be played on all popular multimedia devices including televisions, computers, tablets, smart phones, and mobile devices.

While all digital media in your Family Media Library can be used on any computer or mobile device that has access to the Internet, the flash-animated Mighty eBooks can only be used on a computer or mobile device that has access to the Internet and is capable of running Flash version 10.2 or higher.

For iPad and iPhone users, we are creating an app that will allow you to access our flash-animated Mighty eBooks even though they are not compatible with Adobe Flash. If you are currently on one of these devices, you will need to download the free app once it is completed. We will notify our members once the app is completed.

How do I watch the digital media on my TV?

The best option for watching digital media on your TV is currently with a Roku streaming media player. Our content can also work with Apple TV when streamed from an iPhone or iPad using AirPlay. Similarly you can use an Android phone or tablet to "cast" to a Chromecast connected to your TV. Our content also works on all Google TV enabled Smart TVs.
